Ford laid the foundation for America’s middle class. Now
it is poised to eliminate the middle class it built.
The American automobile industry is being destroyed and our elected
officials refuse to do anything about it. While Delphi shut down
American operations and moved them to China, our government stood
by. Now Ford is following Delphi. It’s offering blanket buyouts
to its American workers while investing billions in Mexico.
“The automobile industry built a road to the middle class
for millions of hard working Americans. Every nation on earth that
wants to raise its standard of living seeks to develop an automobile
industry. But our elected officials fail to do anything while the
American automotive industry is being destroyed. We cannot let the
auto industries go the way of toys, electronics and countless other
industries,” says Jack Davis, Erie County businessman and
Congressional candidate.
“Henry Ford understood that well-paid workers make good customers.
We need a strong auto industry to have a strong America. We must
abandon the failed policies of so-called free trade and globalization.
Our government must protect American workers. Our government has
forgotten our middle class.”
“Western New York’s economy depends on the automobile
industry. Every job we lose at Ford, Delphi or any of their suppliers,
puts hundreds of other businesses one step closer to bankruptcy,”
says Davis.
Just last week, Delphi announced a staggering 83% of its 2nd largest
union workforce accepted buyout offers.
